Another ebay ‘find’ here. Paid a good price for this, but at 25″ it’s just a little too big a frame for me….. So it is back on ebay anon. (Tried a couple of forums to see if any interest, but I can’t be bothered with all the timewasters.)
Reynolds 531 frame with Nervex Pro lugs, & in original paint. Probably built by Wally Green circa 1955. (Possibly Mercian, but I don’t think so.) Has undrilled S/S bridge, chunky, round bladed forks & durable, track ends. Nice twin plate fork crown, it is a top machine of the day. Check Classiclightweights for the current theories about Sid Mottram. I think the info there around Wally Green & Mercian is incorrect: )
One owner from new until last year, when I bought it from a ‘house clearance’ dealer. Owner was a member of Leicester Forest CC & lived in Leicester at that time. The colours look to me to be Leicester Wasps??
Built up here with available parts just to check it out on the road, before deciding what to do with it. So it’s too big for me I now realise!
It’s a proper Road Path, with guard clearance on 27″ wheels, so it’s an all weather/winter bike, as well as for the serious stuff.
